GARDEN ESTATES AND UNIVERSITY-TOWN CHARM
Chapel Hill weddings have a quiet elegance to them. I officiate ceremonies across the area and write every one around the couple standing in front of me.
Chapel Hill feels different from the rest of the Triangle. It is a university town at its core, but the wedding scene here leans toward gardens, historic inns, and countryside estates surrounded by old trees and open land. Ceremonies in Chapel Hill tend to have a grounded, timeless quality that couples are drawn to.
I serve couples throughout Chapel Hill, Carrboro, and across the Triangle, including Raleigh, Durham, and Cary. Whether you are getting married at a venue you discovered while you were a student here or a place you found last week, I will write a ceremony that feels like the two of you.
Every ceremony starts with a conversation about your story. I want to know how you met, the real version, the inside jokes, the things only the two of you would think are funny. That is what makes a ceremony feel personal, and it is where all of my best work begins.
Chapel Hill and the surrounding area are home to some of the most beautiful ceremony settings in North Carolina. Here are a few of the venues couples choose in and around town.
A Chapel Hill landmark since the 1920s, right on the edge of the UNC campus. The courtyard and garden spaces are stunning for outdoor ceremonies, and the interiors have a Southern elegance that feels classic without being stiff.
A rustic venue just outside Chapel Hill with a restored barn, rolling pastures, and a ceremony site framed by mature trees. It has a warmth and simplicity that photographs beautifully and makes guests feel like they have left the city behind.
A destination in itself. The grounds include gardens, a courtyard, and an on-site inn where guests can stay for the weekend. Ceremonies at Fearrington feel like a retreat, especially in spring when everything is in bloom.
A chapel-style venue surrounded by woods and farmland south of Chapel Hill. The indoor space has clean lines and natural light, and the outdoor ceremony area is tucked into a tree-lined clearing. It is one of those places where you can hear the quiet.
Chapel Hill weddings tend to feel a little more intimate, even when the guest count is large. There is something about the setting, the old oaks, the rolling countryside, the pace of the town itself, that slows things down in a way that benefits a ceremony. Guests are more present. The couple is more relaxed. The whole day has room to breathe.
Many couples who get married here have a connection to UNC or to the town itself. They met in college, or they spent formative years here, or their families have roots in the area. That kind of personal connection gives the ceremony extra depth, and I love weaving it in.
For out-of-town guests, Chapel Hill is about 20 minutes from RDU airport and has a good mix of hotels and inns nearby, including options right on Franklin Street. Peak season is April through October, but Chapel Hill in early spring, when the dogwoods are blooming and the campus turns green, is one of the prettiest settings in the state.
"It was so heartfelt and perfect you would've thought she's known us forever. She really tied in details about us as a couple as well as making it light hearted and sweet. We will look back on this for a lifetime."

All the time. Many of the best ceremony spaces around Chapel Hill are outdoors, from garden estates to open farmland to wooded clearings. I always come prepared for weather, and some of the most memorable ceremonies I have done happened outside.
Absolutely. A lot of couples who get married in Chapel Hill have a story connected to the university or the town. I love incorporating those details. Whether it is how you met on campus, a spot in town that means something to you, or a tradition that ties back to your time here, it all goes into the ceremony.
Yes. Carrboro is right next to Chapel Hill and I officiate there regularly. Whether it is a backyard gathering, a restaurant celebration, or a simple ceremony at a local park, I will make it personal and meaningful regardless of the size.
All four cities are within about 30 minutes of each other, and travel anywhere in the Triangle is included. I also officiate destination ceremonies at the Outer Banks, in the mountains near Asheville, and for out-of-state couples traveling to North Carolina. Wherever your day takes you, I will be there.
